Michigan on the move!

With everything in the media about the poor economy in Michigan, you would think that a huge majority of our buyers, especially for vacation properties, are from out of state. Since the first of the year, however, all but one of the buyers for the 24 transactions we've closed were from Michigan!!!! The metropolitan Detroit area and it's suburbs continue to be the source of most of the buying in Northern Michigan. Three years ago was the only year we recorded more out of state buyers than in state. At that time, we had a majority of buyers looking for purely weekend properties, but there's definitely been a shift toward buyers who are looking to retire to Northern michigan and that has attracted a lot of those individuals who live and work in Southern Michigan but have vacationed Up North.
