Kalkaska County-Beautiful Lakes and Woods

Once a week I try to drive my entire waterfront market area in Kalkaska County and specifically check on my listings which have been entrusted to me to sell. I start out from my home located near Twin Birch Golf Course and the Village of Kalkaska. Today I went south to begin my trip and visited East Lake and Homewater's two listings located on this 91 acre all-sports lake which is also excellent for pan fishing. I then headed East and North to the Lakes Area starting with Manistee Lake which is an 860 acre all-sports lake with hard sand bottom; Big Blue Lake which is one of the cleanest lakes in the state of Michigan, has a sandy bottom and is a spectacular 130 acre all-sports lake; then I drove around Starvation Lake and it's unique woodsy feel, is a 125 acre all-sports lake with exceptionally clean water; venturing a little further I drove around both Big Twin Lake and Little Twin Lakes which are across the road from each other - Little Twin being a 92 acre hard sand bottom swimming lake and Big Twin being a 215 acre clean sandy bottom all sports lake; and finally I headed south again to West Bear Lake Road which meanders along the west side of Bear Lake which is a 316 acre all-sports lake and among the cleanest in the state of Michigan with clarity to 25 feet and depths up to 65 ft. providing great sports fishing.
On my way back to Kalkaska traveling down County Road 612 I spied the most beautiful "Marsh Marigolds" growing in the wet and low areas all along the road. They are a very special and seasonal wildflower that I never really noticed until I moved to Kalkaska County in 1997. They put on a specatucular show albeit short lived. If you are looking for a Kalkaska County Waterfront Specialist please contact Mary Janik who lives and works in Kalkaska County and has 8 years of specific market knowledge.
