With frost warnings posted during the evening news each night, its obvious that the long warm days of summer are a thing of the past. For many (including me) this sparks and excitement for fall activities that rivals the anticipation of the snow melt in spring. Friday night football games, an English Setter on point over a tight holding grouse, pumpkins at the roadside markets and breaking out that favorite sweatshirt are all signs that fall is upon us! It can also be a terrific time to buy or sell real estate in northern Michigan. Many sellers are anxious to move their property so they don't have to maintain it through another winter and that can lead to good deals sometimes. More sellers wanted to enjoy one last season at the cabin before putting it on the market so a lot of new inventory hits the market this time of year. Another great advantage is the ability to enjoy the breathtaking fall colors as you decide which home is best suited for the needs of you and your family. We're a week or two away from peak colors in most areas up here but it's coming fast. If there's a property you've had your eye on why not set up a showing appointment with one of our agents or brokers and head north to enjoy a beautiful autumn weekend.
This spectacular AuSable River lodge is a great example of a property coming to market at the end of the season. It's a truly special property situated on The Hole Water section between Stephan and Wakeley Bridges. It was one of the last homes built before the Natural Rivers Act went into place requiring a 200' setback for new building so they were able to perfectly position the home just 60' or so off the water and take advantage of long river views.
